I have been struggling with social media the past few weeks. It is clear there are divisions whether it be the pandemic, racial injustice or support for law enforcement. I would like to quote Dr. Tony Evans, but wouldn’t get his eloquent words correct, so I’ll paraphrase; we aren’t just experiencing one type of pandemic in our country right now, we are suffering from a spiritual pandemic as well. No truer words have been spoken!
The bible verse below struck me because so many are judging others, which we are very clearly told not to, but that is an entirely different post. If we call ourselves Christians, we cannot forget that Jesus Christ died for ALL of us. If you think that you are a better Believer than someone else because of x, y or z, you best check your heart y’all. First, you can’t fake it till ya’ make it with Our Heavenly Father, He knows your heart. Second, I also know that what spews out of your mouth is reflective of what is stored IN your heart. We are saved by the same God, through the same Lamb that was sacrificed for us. That alone convicts me to walk a little bit differently than I have been.
“God, who knows the heart, showed that he accepted them by giving the Holy Spirit to them, just as he did to us. He did not discriminate between us and them, for he purified their hearts by faith. Now then, why do you try to test God by putting on the necks of Gentiles a yoke that neither we nor our ancestors have been able to bear? No! We believe it is through the grace of our Lord Jesus that we are saved, just as they are.” Acts 15:8-11 NIV
