Love.

I think we could agree that the climate of our country is tempestuous at the least. The news and social media platforms are burden filled; I don’t even know how to describe it. My heart is so heavy, and I can’t remember the last time I prayed so much for our country. It was probably 9/11. Maybe I’m reaching a bit, maybe not but there was a verse that stood out to me tonight in my bible time. Well, two did but one is for another time.

“Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony.” Col. 3:14 NLT

The first part that hit me was “clothe yourselves with love”. I immediately had a visual of someone putting on a jacket that was love. It sounds weird I know. Think about it though, clothing yourself is an action, we must put clothes on every day. We wear clothes to protect us from the elements. In some silly way, that’s what love does. If you don’t have love you are empty, angry, lonely. Love, can “bind” us together. While typing this I just thought of Wynona Judd’s song from the 90’s “Love Can Build a Bridge.” I’m not trying to make this sound like peace, love, and rainbows, but God very clearly spelled it out for us. Literally cover yourself in love and we can all be united together. When we choose other emotions, it creates a chasm that keeps growing and separates us from not only each other, but, our Heavenly Father. Will you take the action and join me in clothing yourself in love?

My Prayer:
Heavenly Father,
I come before You tonight like so many hurting for Your children. Lord I pray a healing that can overcome not only this country but the world. I pray for protection of everyone, civilian and law enforcement. That throughout all of this there can be change, that people will seek You and find You. Father God, we need You. In Your Precious Son’s name, Amen.
