Humble Pie!

Recently I finished reading Fervent by Priscilla Shirer whom I adore. Well, I decided to keep it in the family and am now reading Kingdom Woman by Tony Evans & Chrystal Evans Hurst, her father and sister. I saw a clip of Mr. Evans a while back and thought, man I need to start following him!

I’m currently reading Kingdom Woman by Tony Evans & Chrystal Evans Hurst and can already say, I’m going to love this book. In the first chapter of Kingdom Woman, Mr. Evans writes a bit about the Proverbs 31 woman. Are you familiar with her? The Proverbs 31 woman? If you aren’t, please read about her! This woman is who I aspire to be.

In complete honesty, I just deleted everything I had written except for the above paragraph. It was a hilarious story about how I was washing dishes and mad at my husband. I started muttering verses from Proverbs 31 and had thought I was so spiritually mature because I quoted scripture when ticked. Really y’all, all I did was use the scriptures to fan the flame of my ego and why women must do it all. I was going to wrap it together in a pretty bow about how we have to position ourselves to hear the Lord, how I’ve grown and I’m so aware scripturally. Then, I decided to re-read this passage in my Bible and verse 26 hit me like a Mack truck, “When she speaks her words are wise, and she gives instructions with kindness.”

You see, I snapped at my husband tonight while cooking dinner because he didn’t hear me. I asked him to come see if potatoes were crispy enough, he kept saying yea, thinking I said dinner was ready. I talked him like I would a toddler, and not with my nice church lady tone either. My words were not wise, nor were they kind. Sometimes, we just need to read our bible, then read it again. God will give us what we need to hear, we just have to position our hearts to hear it.  I guess the Holy Spirit positioned me to hear this one. Oh, and yes, I did go and apologize to him and tell him that I was changing the story in this blog.
